Brief Summary of AwardsThe following ‘Award’ is available to ‘Registered Youth’ only. Jack Cornwall Decoration : This award is for a Youth who participates in Scouting programs despite tremendous physical / mental challenges. The following ‘Awards’ are available to ‘Registered Youth and Adults’. Award for Fortitude : This award is for participation in Scouting despite personal physical / mental challenges. Award for Meritorious Conduct : This award is for specially meritorious conduct not involving heroism or loss of life. Award for Gallantry : There are many levels for this Award. All of them use the same form. The following ‘Awards’ are available to ‘Registered Adults’ only. Award for Outstanding Service to Scouting : This award recognizes contributions that are over and above the normal weekly meetings and camps. There are many levels of this Award. All of them use the same form. An award of this type can be granted at almost any time but as a general rule of thumb, the service period should be a minimum of five years. Long Service Awards : Consists of a pin awarded for every 5 years of adult service. In Hamilton Wentworth Area, we start presenting these at the five year mark. Special notes: It is VERY IMPORTANT that all questions on the forms are completed in as much detail as possible to ensure that the highest award will be granted. If details are left out, the Award Application Readers will not be able to properly appraise the acts of Gallantry or Service. If the application is for a YOUTH, it is imperative that you obtain permission from the parent before commencing work on the write up.
