The commission to the group across all products is set at 44.7% of retail price.

How did we get to 44.7%?

  • 60% of sales stays with Scouting which includes the cost to run the program (paper & supplies and prizes earned by sellers), commission to group, commission to council
  • Cost to run the popcorn program is approximately 3%
  • If we split the remaining 57% between group and council 80/20 this would give the council 11.4%
  • When we calculated the cost to the group = cost from trails-end+3% of retail program cost+11.4% to council we applied across all products using last years product mix and came up with 44.7%
  • Compare to last years sale where group profit was ~43.3%
  • Note that groups do not pay a fee for leaders who register by August 31

6. Bonus Commission for Groups that “Follow the Plan”

15 - NUT-FREE DISTINCTION (This is direct statement regarding all Trail’s End Products)

“Our entire microwave popcorn lines are nut-free; they are packaged in a separate facility and on separate equipment from our caramel corn with nuts and trail mix. The production lines that run any peanuts or tree nuts are separate, distinct, and not located in the same facility as our microwave lines. There is no co-mingling of the production lines. Our Caramel Corn Light and our Chocolate Caramel Crunch are our only two caramel corn items that do not contain peanut or tree nuts. They are however, produced in the same facility as all of our other caramel corn products containing nuts. We are voluntarily audited by the AIB (American Institute of Baking, www.aibonline.org) and we enforce a strict internal policy that includes guidelines that must be followed in order to prevent cross-contamination.”
