Scout Basics Camp, October 26, 27 & 28th 2012Battlefield Council Annual camporama was originally the Hamilton Wentworth Regions "Scout Basics Camp". With the formation of Battlefields Region (now council) it became a Council run camp hosted by different Area’s within Battlefields Council. It is a two part camp, the first being for New Scouts where they can work on being able to qualify for their Permits that they need, also they will be able to participate in some of the Events at the camp. The second part of the Camp is for Senior Scouts that already have their Permits, there will be events for these Scouts to participate in at camp. So this is a camp where the whole troop can come out and have fun and the leaders will get their Junior Scouts Qualified for their permits. Note: Battlefield's Council Camporama did not take place in the fall of 2010. Scout Basics Camp returned home to Mount Nemo Scout Camp as "Hamilton Wentworth Area" - " Scout Basics Camp", October 2011.
I would like to offer my thanks to everyone for attending this camp. It was great to see everyone out there and I am happy that all had a great time. I want to thank all leaders from each group for your contribution in making this camp that much more memorable for all scouting youth. It was a joy to work with you all and your efforts are very much appreciated. I look forward seeing everyone again next year. Just to give you a final count, we had 183 people attend the Hamilton Scout Basics Camp and its success is your success. It was great to see all those smiling faces on our scouting youth and see what a wonderful time they were all having. It should also be equally mentioned that there were a few other leaders and groups who took their personal time to come to camp and help out with our scouting events. I would like to personally thank the following and leaders and groups for their help with on and offsite events: Bryan Cowell, Rob MacLean, Todd Martin, Nick Spino, Bruce Gillroy, Patrick Hall, Paul & David Campbell, Brent Cormick, Tom Booth, 31st Venturer Company, 4th Ancaster Venturer Company and 31st Rover Crew. Their contribution made it possible for us to provide the variety of events for our youth. I offer my thanks and gratitude for your time and effort in helping us run a great scout camp. A special thanks to Eriks Taube and Bruce Gillroy for their help in organizing the parking arrangements and shuttling cars in and out of camp. I could not have managed this task without you. Our next Hamilton Scout Basics Camp will be scheduled for the weekend of October 26-28, 2012. I look forward seeing you all again and with some new smiling faces.
